Beginning with trial version 4.10, we began using the Wise installer. Uninstall is done in two steps:
We used the InstallShield installer for these versions. Please select Start/Programs/NetScanTools/NetScanTools Uninstaller and follow the directions. You may also use Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs.
Manual Program File Deletion
To remove NetScanTools files and any data files you may have
created, locate the NetScanTools installation directory/folder.
The default is C:\Program Files\nwps\NetScanTools\Program.
Delete any files found in the NetScanTools directory tree. If
you do not have any of our other programs, you may also delete the
nwps directory and all files/directories under it. You can also
search for nststd.exe as a way to locate the NetScanTools
installation directory.
Desktop Shortcut Removal
Drag the NetScanTools icon to the Recycle Bin.
Taskbar Menu Item Removal (Start button links)
This is somewhat operating system dependent.
* NT 4: Click on Start/Settings/Taskbar. Then click on
Advanced. If you made NetScanTools group available to all users
during installation, please click on Profiles/All Users/Start
Menu/Programs. Delete the NetScanTools 4.x entry. If you made
NetScanTools only available to one user during installation,
locate that user under Profiles, then find the Start
Menu/Programs entry with NetScanTools and delete it.
Manual Registry Entry Deletion
You will have to also delete items found in the NetScanTools
registry entries here (this is the program settings and history
lists, etc.):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/NWPS/NetScanTools
If you do not have any of our other programs, you may delete the
nwps key and all keys/values under it.
Clearing out NetScanTools from the Add/Delete Programs list
Locate this registry tree entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall
You will see the list of items found the Add/Remove Programs
list there. Locate and delete ONLY the NetScanTools 4.x Trial
Version entry.
Note: we do not explain how to use the registry editor. Use it
at your own risk. Improper use could render your machine
inoperable or unbootable.
